I didn’t follow the traditional path.I saw an opportunity, took it, and started entry level. Worked my way up — titles, president at one point, salary, expense account. By every measure I was succeeding.But I was unhappy. I knew I was capable of more — but I was being capped, controlled, and paid based on what others thought I was worth. Not what I actually was.I stayed longer than I should have. Kept my opinions to myself. Deferred to people with bigger titles and watched them get it wrong while I stayed quiet.I gave everything — loyalty, effort, fairness — expecting it would be
reciprocated. It wasn't.Until I saw it clearly. The ceiling wasn't my ability. It was that I was
waiting for permission that
was never coming.So I stopped waiting and made the move into the unknown. Built and ran my own global business for 20 years across North America,
